The Voice… :: {north ga senior photographer}

Second senior of the season… it’s fixing to to get crazy, I like crazy though when it come to senior photography! (if you haven’t booked, do so now while slots are still available)… anyway meet Ashley, a Jefferson Senior! We got some great shots despite a few plans that fell through involving a few of our locations, but we took what was offered and ROCKED it! Would like to give a special thanks for quick thinking on Mr. Habeck’s part for offering up the inside of his church, to Coach DuBose for letting us borrow half of his court for a few minutes during his summer practice and to little brother for being an excellent flash holder! =)…. check out some the great shots that we got ::

DJ & Bubba :: { atlanta wedding photographer }

DJ and Bubba… I had never met DJ prior to our engagement session but we have been friends on Facebook for quite some time… she like myself is a graphic designer and we shared a little information about the industry and the tools in the past…. well she got engaged and well I get the opportunity to photography her special day! Its always nice to have people like my work, but always means a lot when someone in the art community likes it as well…. even enough to book me =). I must admit I am jealous of DJ’s design job… she gets to design for the Falcons, Hawks and the Braves…. (if you guys need a freelance photographer let me know ;) Anyway here are a few shots from the engagement session ::

Roswell Mill Wedding :: { atlanta wedding photographer }

Wedding #8 of the season for me and I got to shoot with AGW Photography. The last time that I shot at Roswell Mill was a few years ago and Allyson assited me so I had the opportunity to side shoot with her at her wedding there. This place is a unique venue in that there are a lot of different looks for good photography… everything from old buildings to rivers and waterfalls. A lot of things have changed in Roswell since I last shot there… the Roswellians think very highly of their city property… hence the $100 permit to shoot photography there that you have to have… Luckily Julie had hers… I meant Allyson had hers =). We didn’t get sent to jail thank goodness. The reception was a first for me in that it was pretty crazy (i’ll keep the incriminatory pictures hidden) but I think we counted 7 spilled drinks and 3 broken glasses on the dance floor… you know you have a good reception when that happens…  Like always I enjoy side shooting and usually try and get some good stuff… check out some of the shots below ::

Immediately after this next shot below…. i caught some of his Crown and Coke on me and my lens… luckily no harm…whew!

TJ and Alison :: { georgia wedding photographer }

Oh i love fun weddings… and I deff knew this one was probably going to be one of the funnest I have shot. Meet TJ and Alison… I met these guys at the University of West Georgia where we were all Art majors, so you know right off the bat we all have twisted and funny personalities. I had almost every art class with TJ… yes it was fun and dreadful at the same time (just kidding…), but when TJ is constantly showing you his amazing drawings, mine kinda lost my respect…lol. Alison and Tj started dating back then… only 10-12 years ago… not that long ago…. Anyway we reconnected on Facebook and they got engaged and I got to shoot their wedding. Good people they are and TJ is pretty funny so he made the day interesting for me. I think he was impressed by my Nikon arsenal and since then I have heard he is making the swap over from Canon…okay probably not but this is my blog so I can tell like I want =). Check out some of these great shots from their day… and congrats guys… ::

Brady Turns 2… :: {north ga photographer}

Mr Brady… I’ve shot this guy since about 6 months old and now he’s turning 2!… Seems like a familiar post (dejavu from earlier this week). We shot these at Hurricane Shoals Park and he was the perfect little model as usual. Check out some these great shots… and oh yeah he’s got a baby brother on the way… Congrats!! ::

Trulove’s Two :: { jefferson ga photographer }

Little Macy whom I have shot since week 2… is now two years old… wow! Not much to say she is always a cutie and always rocks the camera… Check these out and… Tic-Tacs was the key to this session =) ::

I also had a little helper for her session…. i hope he doesn’t put me out of business =)

Vinings Club Wedding :: { atlanta wedding photographer }

What a great wedding season that I have had thus far and this wedding was no different. A great couple with Sara and Michael… so fun to be around and a very laid back bride and groom. I just finished their wedding pictures like 5 minutes ago from their wedding last week… We got some great shots and the venue was pretty amazing also at Vinings Club in Vinings GA. Thanks to Sergio the Italian security guard (right brides maids =)… for letting us up to the 22nd floor for some great overlook shots of Atlanta. I wish all the best to Sara and Michael… oh and Sara since the wedding is now over… GOOOOOOO DAWGS! SICKEM…. =) Check out some great shots ::

Greene Shooting Greene :: { athens ga photographer }

About a year or so I entered a photography package into our local high school booster club charity event… it was auctioned off for a good cause and well this family won the bid… well we have been in contact back and fourth ever since her youngest son was born about a year ago… We finally got to plan a date and shot the session this afternoon and I was looking forward to it. Her boys are so sweet and like any other 1 and 4 year old, mom and dad had bribed them with some ice cream afterwards… yummy! Anyway, dad’s face may seem just a little familiar to a few of you Dawg fans out there… he’s probably one of the greatest QB’s that the NCAA has ever seen and I was a bit star-struck at first, but what a down to earth guy… enjoyed the evening shooting him and his family… Maybe, just maybe I  become his go to receiver… i mean photographer =). Check out some of the shots from this afternoon.. ::

Abbey & Matt :: { georgia wedding photographer }

Fifty-Nine (59) weddings and counting, no rain outs streak continues!! 70% chance of rain this past Saturday but I wasn’t worried… I’m good luck (hint hint for all you future , outdoor wedding brides :) … Anyway meet Abbey and Matt, you may remember them from our engagement session back in February (here). I could tell by shooting these two then that we were going to get some great pictures on their wedding day, Just so happened that this is my 200th blog post (yay!) AND one of my most favorite weddings shots that i have taken to date would come from this wedding… checkout a few shots from the day and see if you can pick my favorite =) ::

Getting Closer! :: { georgia wedding photographer }

Sooo…. does one these faces look familiar? Thats right… Ms. Ashley…. she’s getting married. You know her all to well from some of my Trash the Dress sessions. She has helped me build one hell of a portfolio and well now it’s time for the real thing. I am happy to say that I am shooting her wedding in November and we have set the bar high as it is with previous sessions…. so keep a lookout for some amazing shots to come. I met Shane (again) this afternoon… small world b/c we played ball against each other… I watched his home runs go over my head and he probably threw me out from short stop more times than I would like to admit… Anyway enough about my lack of baseball skills… we had a great engagement session this afternoon. The first day in weeks where it was actually pretty chilly and very windy, BUT that would not stop us… well maybe Ashley but I pushed and convinced we would still rock it! We didn’t only ROCK IT, we BLEW IT UP (i just made bomb noise???)…. we got some great shots and here are just a few from the session….

Carl House Wedding :: { georgia wedding photographer }

One of my newly favorite venues to shoot at is the Carl House located in Auburn, GA… I have shot there in the summer, spring, fall and winter and no matter what time of the year it is… It is quite the photographers paradise! I have a few booked there this year of my own, but this past weekend I had the privilege to shoot under Neal Reeves at this wonderful venue. Each time I shoot there i seem to find a new angle, a new lighting shot and just new ideas in general… I can’t wait for my others scheduled there this coming year…. here are a few shots from this weekend… ::

Where It All Started :: { jefferson ga wedding photographer }

I met Heather and Michael last fall where they booked me for there June 2012 wedding… I kinda had an inside scoop on helping me to book her as she works with my mom =)… Anyway, they wanted to have their engagement session shot at Hurricane Shoals Park as that was the very spot where Michael pop the big question to Heather! I kind of chuckled as they told me about how he pop the question…. long story short, the plan was to do it in from of the old church there on site… well with it being a public park there were several people walking around site seeing… so after stalling awhile and waiting, Micheal just asked her behind the church under a tree…lol…. hey at least it was still close to the old church =). Here are a few pictures from this past Sunday’s session… enjoy ::

Big City Wedding :: {atlanta wedding photographer}

March Maddness…. wedding style! Shot another great wedding at The Cathedral of Christ the King. Its a very beautiful church but be prepared to get in and get out as it is a revolving door for weddings all day long… Shooting wedding #2 here under NRP and here are a few of the shots….

Big Sister, Little Sister :: {north ga photographer}

Ahhhhh it feels great to be shooting again, I had my first shoot this past Monday since my amazing senior session a few weeks back… this session pretty much marked an end to my well planned, well deserved break… now it’s time to hit the gas wide open an knock out these weddings and other sessions booked in the coming weeks and months. This session was nice because I got to take some shots of 1 year old Gracie and just about a year or so ago I shot her bigger sister at the same age…. well both were present at this session and we got some great shots… here is a quick sneak peek… check them out ::

Fortographers :: UV Filter or not to UV Filter

Another Fortographers segment:: Okay a debate came up in our Facebook group (JPG – Joining Photographers in GA) about should you put a clear UV Filter on your expensive glass. Some said no because you are down grading the quality of the image, some said yeah because it acts more like protection than anything. Well in a nutshell, about half of photographers including myself add UV Filters to all of their lenses just as protection… that’s why I do and that’s why I was told to do it and it sounded like a good idea… so i thought, BUT after talking to a few in the group I became curious and I am always looking for ways to improve my images. So I set out to put this to the test…..

Items :

Nikon D3s : 70-200 f2.8 VRII : $70 Nikon brand UV Filter : $30 Rocketfish UV Filter : $129 Mongoose Bike (which is for sale and like new =)

The images are SOOC (straight out of camera) meaning no edits have been applied. all pictures were taken under natural light all with in a 2minute window to help in decreasing light quality from the setting sun

this image shows all of the shots taken… i took each shot at the same f/stop, ISO, shutter speed, white balance and focal length.

Right off the bat I noticed a shift in what looks like the amount of light between filters them selves… The $70 Nikon brand (higher priced) filter seemed to come very close to the shot with no filter at all… The Rocketfish seemed to be a little darker… not good, not bad… its just what you prefer i guess…

The Zoom Test:

These are all the same settings just with the different Filters on and off

You make can click on the image and make it a little bigger, but again the Nikon brand filter (higher priced) seems to be more inline with true light coming in the lens. from this zoom test i could not tell a substantial difference in image quality between any of the shots….

My Conclusion (IMO only)

I  don’t think there is enough evidence in image quality one way or the other that I found to make me want to remove my UV Filters from my very expensive lenses and take a chance on busting or cracking the end. I will deff keep all my UV filters on, BUT i may look into getting all the same brand as i did learn that different UV seem to let in different amounts of light and or color of the light… so i hoped this help to answer any questions you may have had… I would love to see your test…
