Kale Corbett – A True Player

” Hi, I am Kale Corbett.  My parents are Tim and Brandy Corbett and I have a sister, Katy Rose.  I am in the 4th grade at Jefferson Academy.  I love to play football, basketball, and run track.  One day, I began to feel so tired that I couldn’t even play during my football game.  That isn’t like me so my mom and dad took me to the doctor.  After lots of tests, they said I had leukemia.  It is a rare type of ALL.” -Kale

Meet Kale Corbett… that is Kale’s story. I just recently met Kale this past Monday, I have always known his mom, his uncle and just most recently shot his aunt’s engagement session….  a great and very close nit family! A very competitive gene pool there and Kale has seemed to gained it honestly as he jumped right out of the car with a football in hand throwing hailmary passes to his sister Katy and diving on the ground to catch passes (momma wasn’t crazy about him getting dirty, but it was a good catch!). Kale has been diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia… and has since under went a few chemo treatments, but I tell you what you would have never known it do to this guys spunk and good attitude! The GREAT news is they have a bone marrow donor and they were officially cleared for transplant! I have been keeping up with Kale here at his webpage. You can tell God is truly working in and around this little guys life and family. If you care to help Kale out in anyway you can start by stopping by his donations page. Kale we’ll photograph you again in a few months and you can show me how to throw one of those hailmary passes!

Here are a few shots of Kale and his family :

Below is Kale looking for a hawk…. love the concentration =)

Good Luck Kale…. we’re praying for you and your family and we’ll see you guys in a few short months…

Amanda and Kevin’s Big Day :: {north ga wedding photographer}

Meet the Chandlers…. the whole week was rainy leading in to February 4th. Even on the 4th, the day of the wedding, there was a 60% chance of rain. Fun Fact brides… out of 55 weddings… Scott Greene Photography has never had one to be rained out… had some close calls BUT no rain! This day (i thought my streak was going to end) proved no different… the rain stayed away and the sun even broke thru the clouds a few times! Not sure if you remember Amanda and Kevin, but they had the very cool Athens engagement session. This wedding was a true testimony of how powerful and emotional a First Look can be…. I was going to post a few pictures from it, but it was sooo special and sooo emotional that I am going to keep those for just Kevin and Amanda…. Without further delay here are a few sneak peeks from the Big Day…

Awesome Shoot! :: {senior and fashion photographer}

I love November through March… I purposely take that time off from client sessions to get all geared up for the upcoming year and while doing that I like to schedule fun portfolio builder sessions in between. This past Sunday I had one of those cool sessions! Another photographer and I have been collaborating about getting together and helping each other out in our shooting, lighting and posing… I love shooting around with other photographers if I have the time. Me and Jon Ruby from Jon Ruby Photography had planned this shoot and luckily for us Jon’s model contact had canceled last minute and I was able to get Ms. Megan, a previous senior I shot from earlier this past summer, to fill the role. She knocked this session out of the park just like she did her first one (Megan’s Senior Session). So here are a few shots from this session and I hope to be shooting some future sessions with her ::

2012 Underway :: {atlanta ga wedding photographer}

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and a good New Year’s! It’s been awhile since I had a post ( i know i know… i’m a slacker =)….! Soooo my 2012 is off to a great start already…. I have already booked more weddings than I have in previous years and my side shooting gigs are plentiful as well… This wedding hear was the first one of the year to get the ice broken on 2012. I was a side shooter on this one with NRP Photography. It was a Catholic wedding which I always find interesting to shoot as we don’t see many of those here in the sticks…lol. The reception was at a really cool location “103 West“. After the wedding we toured around the block and shot a few city scene pictures…. here are a few from the day ::

Branna & Wade Engaged :: { north georgia wedding photographer }

I was privileged this past Sunday to shoot a great couple for their engagement pictures. Wade and Beanna… I met Wade the day of the shoot… really nice and down to earth guy… and Breanna… I have known of her ever since she was really little…. I went to school with her older brother and sister… watched her sis drain 3′s when I was a freshman in high school and I played a lot… I mean a lot of basketball with her brother while coming thru high school… great family and a good gene pool… whats your secrete Frankie? =).  Anyway this was a great shoot… other than being a lil cool… okay a lot cool / very cold we still got a lot of great shots. Here are some shots from the session… sorry for so many but I couldn’t really narrow it down to just a few ::

Trashing the Dress… OH YEAH! :: {marietta ga wedding photographer}

What a great way to end a GREAT 2011 wedding season! This Trash the Dress Session was actually purchased in Andi’s initial wedding package (thats right… she aint skeered!). Andi and Thomas were one of my favorite weddings from this past year… remember this one (click here). These sessions are always fun and creative… plus Andi had been studying up on how work this session. Andi is a fun bubbly gal with a very contagious smile… well this session her evil twin came out and threw on us some attitude… it was a good juxtapose to the normal Andi =). So with out any further delay… check out some shots from the session ::

Jefferson Dragon Senior :: {senior photographer}

Just when I thought all the fun was over for this 2012 senior season… I have currently booked two more (not too late seniors). Cain’s mom booked me about 3 weeks ago after a little prodding from me at the hair salon. I am always excited to do the senior sessions because I try and make them unique and this one would be no different. This senior fellow, another one from my old stomping ground in Jefferson, has quite the decorated accolades sewn all over his jacket. I thought I had a lot of patches back in 95 but his jacket pretty much put mine to shame. Anyway…. here are a few shots from today’s session ::

Old Friend… New Start at The Carl House :: {atlanta wedding photographer}

An old friend of mine from years past (about 12 to be exact) just recently had a new start with her wonderful wedding on October 21st. Ellwyn got married at The Carl House in Auburn GA. I have had the privileged of shooting there once before and I have several booked there already in 2012… great venue and a great staff. Anyway Ellwyn contacted me sometime ago about shooting her wedding… needless to say I was excited because I had lost touch with her as she moved around the countryside. Living out in TX they were headed back this way to get married and well we booked it and made it happen. This was my last official wedding of the year, as I have one more to go that I am side shooting this month… It’s been a great wedding year and here are some great pictures from Ellwyn’s special day ::

Fall :: {north ga fine art photographer}

Well… other than a few little family shoots and a couple of engagements in the next few weeks… my 2011 has officially wound down (by choice that is). I like to take the months of Nov thru Feb and shoot for me. That could be a creative trash the dress session or a collaborative editorial styled shoot, but just things that I like to do. I alos take this time to teach and mentor to some up and coming fellow photogs and I am ALWAYS on the look out for work-shops and seminars of any kind… so if you know of any around within a 100 miles of Jefferson GA… let me know =). My main goal is to deffinently start shooting more fine art styled shoots… I love just shooting what I see abstractly… that is what got me into photography to begin with and that is what helps to keep me in it… shooting for myself from time to time… anyway here is a quick 15 minute front yard session I had with my tree… enjoy and look for more ::

Staghorn Chapel Bridal Session :: {athens ga wedding photographer}

So this is one of the bridals that I could not wait to post… so I actually wrote this exactly a week before the wedding… well the wedding has been over for a matter of hours now and I finally get to post. These pictures are great and I can not wait to get the wedding done to post it as well… This bridal was shot at the beautiful Staghorn Chapel in Nicholson GA. anyway I’ll cut this short and get to the pictures because I’m pretty sure that I’m still tired from shooting this wedding that technically has happened yet as I type this… okay so now I’m really confused, but here goes ::

Long Ball Senior Session :: { commerce ga senior photographer }

Well… the time has come and this session was or is “unofficially” my last booked senior session of the year until maybe another senior books one. Anyway what a great session to go out on. We knocked this one out of the park (no pun intended… you’ll see why later). Colton is a big guy, I swear we never grew ball players like this when I was coming along way back in 95′ =). His mom scheduled the session like 100% of my guy seniors this year, but also like the other 100% of the guys… we got some great shots and used what is becoming my stamp for these parts… some cool creative lighting! With out anymore delay… check out some of Colton’s senior shots ::

25 career home runs for mr. davis…. yeah so that makes my 2 career home runs not so special…lol

Fall Wedding at the Higdon House :: {greensboro wedding photographer}

Ah finally another wedding blog post… This fall is going to be really busy for me with weddings. 5 weddings in the next 8 weeks… so stay tuned to check out some great pictures. This wedding was pretty cool in a few ways… one was that I was at the Higdon House in Greensboro, GA yet again this year (number 3 here this year I believe). The second is…. this was a Friday wedding and I originally had a wedding booked for the next day… so when Mandi contacted me about shooting it, in order not to over book myself and my clients I sent her info on some great photographers that I work closely with from time to time and just so happened she booked Neal Reeves Photography… so win win right…. long story short, that Saturday wedding of mine got rescheduled and NRP hired me out to shoot with him at Mandi’s wedding… so now its a win, win and win for all of us… =). Anyway here are a few of my sneak peeks from Mandi and Brandon’s big day – for the official pictures check out Neal Reeves Photography ::

Future brides… take notice of the excitement of this “First Look”… you can’t get this during ceremony! =)

Luckily Rosa (the Higdon House -house photographer? ), actually helped me here… I caught her flash in the background.

white boy can dance!

photographer can’t!… (neal reeves attempt at the Cupid Shuffle :)

Good Ole Hardy Boy :: {athens ga senior photographer}

WOW… guess who hasn’t had a blog post in way too long…. no comment =). Okay… so yeah this is my first post in awhile, BUT in my defense I do have two great bridal sessions to post ( i just can’t till after their weddings ), I have a great wedding from this weekend that will be posted on Tuesday, a few Fortographer’s post are a coming and two senior sessions to post…. one of which starts right now!

Senior 2012 sessions have been a blast and very creative this year. Every single shoot was a great blend of my style and the senior’s personality. This session was no different. Khole is just good ole plain laid back country boy… actually reminds me a lot of myself when I was his age. I have known his family for years. ( Mrs. Kay can cook yall! )… Kay his mom started talking to me about planing his pictures when I was shooting his main squeeze’s pictures earlier this year =)… Mrs. Kay did a great job with coming up with some cool locations and thanks to Mr. Tom for letting us use such a cool prop….  check out some of my favs from the session ::

Year of the Cannon :: { jefferson ga senior photographer}

I’m glad Cannon decided to Joiner in on the creative senior sessions… (okay so the play on words may have been a lil cheesey =). Anyway I was contacted several weeks ago by Cannon’s mom and we scheduled his senior session. The day was about perfect for a shoot, overcast (great for portraits btw), cool temperatures and another senior willing to get some great shots. We started out at my old faithful… I have shot several seniors, engagements and bridals there so every time I go it’s a challenge to make it look new and different… either way we deff got some great shots. Cannon brought a long his guitar for a few shots and played a few chords in between…. Here are a few quick peeks from Cannon’s session last night ::

Ford is 5… Days Old! :: { jefferson ga photographer }

Those that know me and know my work best has probably saw a slight shift in my photography focus… While I enjoy shooting all kinds of sessions I have shifted a lot of my focus to mainly weddings and seniors.  I still love shooting the kids and will continue, but the newborns have always been a slight challenge for me… and also if you know me I am always up for a good challenge. Scott and Candice, new parents as of just 5 days ago, and friends of mine… told me some 8 months ago that I would be shooting their new arrival… and while shooting a limited number of newborn sessions each year… when they told me I gladly accepted (Scott is an ex-Marine… so I wasn’t going to tell him no =). Well the day had came and so had little Ford. Such a cute lil boy and so well behaved at just 5 days he was a pleasure to shoot… heck I would even shoot a newbie like him again =). I will be documenting Ford’s first year of life this year as they got my babies first year package… so stay tuned to watch this guy grow… until the next 3 month session here are a few from this one… welcome to the world Ford ::

Down on the Farm :: {north ga wedding photographer}

Jessica and Kyle…. a couple of very nice and down earth people…. I mean farmers. I met Jessica last year I believe it was, she had booked me for a normal portrait session of her and Kyle (between us i think it was a test run…lol ;) …. they seem to have liked what they got and the process of getting the shots because I was lucky enough to get booked for their wedding coming up in October at Tucker Plantation… I can’t wait! We shot their “official” engagement session yesterday and boy was it fun. They are farmers off course and love the rustic look of just good ole farm land and…. it made for some great pictures! Their story is pretty cool and Jessica wanted to incorporate a lot of their special moments into this session. I am so looking forward to their wedding as I know we will really get some great pictures… Here are a few from the engagement:

2012 Senior… Wright Here, Wright Now :: {athens ga senior photographer}

Senior session 1 of 2 for this week… and this was a great one. Carly’s mom and I have been planning this session for about 2 weeks and I think we pretty much planned it perfectly. We got some GREAT pictures in some very cool locations. Thanks to Mr. Perry for bringing along his 1960′s Pontiac GTO…. A pretty bad a%# car by the way. I knew from the beginning that these were going to be some awesome shots…. because when they look good on the LCD screen… they are going to be great on the big screen!! Carly was quite the model, she didn’t say much but she was deff working the camera. Oh and for the record… when we shot in the tall grass, she was not afraid of the weeds and the unseen critters running around… really she wasn’t =). So without anymore delay… here we go:

2012 Senior Session :: {athens senior photographer}

Have I mentioned that I like creative photography…. maybe once or twice if I had to guess! That is the biggest reason that I love doing the senior sessions, they all want something new and uniquely to themselves and that is what keeps me pushing the envelope to the next session. Ms. Hanna booked me a few weeks ago and we did a lil planning on where we would start shooting and where we would end up. I must say that this whole shoot was fun, but for me the very end of it was the best because…. we were racing against the sun and the remaining light of day that was left to steal a few more awesome shots before it got dark… well that is exactly what happened… so congrats to Hanna on her upcoming senior year and she is kicking it off right with some awesome pictures… check out a few from the session.

Mr and Mrs Cain {athens ga wedding photographer}

Soooo NOW I can post the real deal. Carley and Brandon are officially hitched and documented. Since day one Carley trusted me with the direction to and creativity for her pictures. I strongly convinced her to do a “First Look” and she accepted and it was great… just ask her about it! We did the first look on north campus at the University of Georgia and their wedding reception was at the Commerce Civic Center. Well… there isn’t much more I can say about this wonderful couple that I haven’t already said in their previous two post (engagement and bridal). But I would like to thank them for letting me be a part of their special day… Thanks Guys! Check a few pictures from the big day!

A Poole of Fire: Trash the Dress {wedding photographer}

Got a phone call about 2 months ago from Mr. Poole… he had just been recently married at Hurricane Shoals Park and was looking on Google images and some of mine just happened to pop up (thank you blog =)… well he wanted my TTD aka Trash the Dress… services! I was delighted of course because these are one of my most favorite type of sessions to shoot… We corresponded a few times via email and he showed me some ideas of what him and Brandi were thinking…. and well as soon as I saw fire as one of the examples… Scott got all excited about this shoot (yes I just spoke in 3rd person!). Brandi and Josh put back on there wedding attire from that special day in March…. and we did a little ‘trashing”. The session worked out good with the old junk cars as it went with what was kind of a “rocking 40′s and 50′s look”. Here are some of the shots from the Poole’s Trash the Dress:

All Aboard { Jefferson, GA Photographer }

Man…  this guy is growing fast! I remember shooting little Blake when he was just 3 months old… we have had a session together every year now and now they little guy is 4. Wow… time flies. We have shot about at most of my hot spots for kids, but his mom said he was into trains…. well luckily Jefferson has no shortage of train tracks and or train cars… here are a few from the session:

Out fo the Box in Commerce, GA

So yeah… I choose to shoot just a limited number of family sessions each year, by this I mean that I am very selective. Reason being families are good to shoot but rarely do any of them “really” want to push the boundaries and step outside of the box. Well meet the Rubio’s! Nichole contacted me sometime ago and booked me several months back… in some of the email correspondence that we had, we were trying to figure out a place to shoot…. she wanted “different”…. and I said HOW DIFFERENT? She said junkyard different and I  said OKAY! I have shot at these places a good bit but never in a family setting and the Rubio’s were down for going against the normal family grain of photography. No pretty green grass… no wonderful old bridges… no kids running around with balloons… just straight up raw urban grunge look. I myself thought it would be a good contrast with such a great looking family. Thanks Nichole for suggesting such a cool shoot! Here are a few of the shots that we got from the session… enjoy!

They’re Good Friends and They’re Great Pictures

So Facebook is a tool that I use often use to find, meet and  admire other photographers work in my area and abroad. Thanks to Facebook I have gained a lot of friends and keep in contact with some great photographers that just a few years ago I would have never had the opportunity to see yet alone meet. Beth is one of those photographers that I ran up on with Facebook. We have tried in the past to work out a trade of services so we could shoot each others families… and like all photographers our schedules were just so hectic. Luckily before the wedding monsoon rolls in for me… I had a free Sunday so I contacted Beth and her friend Amber ( who has also tried to plan a session with me and our schedules never quite could get on the same page ) and mentioned that if they were still interested in pictures that this was probably the best opportunity. Both wanted something totally unique and different, so of course… I like junkyards and well that’s where we went. Here are just a few pictures from the shoot:
