Senior season is now underway… hold on and stay tuned to watch and see what kind of magic is made this year for the class of 2014! This was a fun session as most of my seniors are… got to shoot on a farm and capture personality… lots of it =). Bryanna is a fun girl that enjoys the “duck face” in between shooting… however I did catch it a few times… just not included in these shots =). Check’em out and if you know of a senior… send’me SGP’s way ;) ::

Hurricane Shoals ParK Maternity:: {metro atlanta & north ga photographer}

If any of you know me or even th eones who follow my work a good bit know that I rarely shoot anything but Weddings and Seniors, but every year I take on some different sessions… a few families, kids and maternity sessions or anything else that I may can fit into the crazy schedule…. Well meet Hollye… we go way back… me and her older sister graduated together and her mom taught me in my elementary school days…. so when Hollye contacted me to do her maternity shots, I will admit the I hesitated a little, because this is typically out of my “box” but I’m glad she was so persistent because we had a great shoot and the images turned out well…. =). Check these out, we shot them at the infamous Jackson County park Hurricane Shoals Park. ::

Spring Has Sprung :: { atlanta and north ga photographer }

Spring… one of my best and worst times of the year… the worst, because allergies attack me like no other…. Sniffling, sneezing, coughing, aching, stuffy head fever (okay thats from the old school Vicks 44 commercial… just showed my age =)… Anyway, its the best time of the year for me because it’s getting warm and weddings are being shot about every weekend… and in this case it is a good time of the year for engagement sessions as well!! Something about spring afternoons and the very warm toned color of light from the sun that I just love shooting and trying to capture. This session was my first real afternoon that had this kind of light… Nicole and Ryan did a great job and I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in September! Check out these fun shots ::

EJHS Senior :: {atlanta and north ga photographer}

Kicking off the 2014 Senior Season a little earlier this year…. Teaming up with 2 other photographers and one really cool senior makes for a great afternoon. Samantha Beauchamp Photography contacted me a few weeks ago to collaborate with her on a senior session that she had coming up… with our different styles of work she felt we could really give him a diverse set of images… I then asked if I could take it a bit further and I mentioned bringing on another talented shooter… Antonio Little Photography… with us 3 in place it was sure to be a cool session and I knew we were going to have a lot of fun… so a big thanks SBP and ALP for a great evening of shooting and a special big thanks to Austin for hanging in there with us for a little over 3 hours…. it was well worth it. Here are my share of images from the shoot check them out….

Jim Walters Barn Engagement :: {ga wedding photographer}

Amanda and Chris…. I can tell this is going to be a fun wedding come next year. I met these guys awhile back when we were booking their wedding and right off the bat I could tell that Amanda was going to make some great photos just being herself… loves to laugh, loves to smile and loves her man which always makes for a great photography recipe. We did their engagement session at Jim Walters Barn in Lula, GA… I have shot there two previous times… once a bridal session and then a wedding. Great little “country-esque” venue to shoot at. We got some pretty wonderful shots there… check them out ::

Das Senior :: {north ga senior photographer}

As my senior season is starting slow down a bit… this session with Sydney was really cool because she is my first real non-local senior… whoo hoo i’m going regional…lol… just kidding but she is from up in Cumming GA. We had a great shoot and hit several of my favorite locations which are all new to those seniors… We dodged the rain and ended up with a very pretty, somewhat windy afternoon. Oh yeah, shes drives a cool car too.. VDUB =)… lol. Anyway check out some of the shots below ::

Brasstown Valley Wedding :: { north ga wedding photographer }

What a great weekend to shoot a great wedding… Perfect weather, perfect venue and the perfect couple…. This wedding was held up at Brasstown Valley Resort  This is a really nice venue nestled in the mountains of North Ga. Kristina and Neel were as relaxed as they could be it seemed on what was a very busy day… I got some great shots and here are a few from the day… check them out

See the Light :: { photography class }

Its been a long while since I have posted one of these… so since my 2012 Senior Season is coming to an end (it has been an amazing season btw)… I figured I would post a few cheat sheets for some of you out there that may be interested…. and like Peter always wants to know… “whats my secrete you ask Peter… SAMS Club AA Batteries ;)

Check these Cheat Sheets out::

Flash Units were all Nikon SB900, 800 speed lights

Country Time :: { wedding photographer }

This was wedding #67 for me in my short career… and I must say this was probably one of my favorites I’ve ever shot. First off I’d like to thank Marla and Chad for sticking with me thru the tough and unfortunate times that took place over the months of planning leading up to your special day. Marla and Chad is a very nice couple and very sincere and friendly…. I met Chad twice (the second time on his wedding day) and he was generous enough to tell me about the green cooler and to help myself (thanks for that and I had a few….shhhhh).  Everything at this wedding, which was held at the brides parents house, was put together and done by them…. I was very impressed when I rolled up the day of the wedding…. I knew it was going to be a good day… check out some shots ::

Rain Rain Went Away :: { engagement photographer }

This past week has dumped quite the rain… This engagement session with Latosha and Tad looked a little touch and go for awhile there with the rain all around us. Once again my luck holds out… we get a nice little break and knockout the session. A little funny side note, this particular location is pretty neat except they need a sign that says beware of the cats…they weren’t ferocious or mean just annoying and i bet out of all my shots I had to clone and heal brush them out of most pictures…. BUT with even the cats trying to pester us, we got some great shots… check them out ::

Summer Time! :: { georgia senior photographer }

Ms. Summer is a senior… Last time I saw Summer was actually about 4 years ago, I shot her older sisters wedding and Summer was in it of course. I really enjoyed this session for several reasons… one Summer is great in front of the camera and two we shot away from her hometown to get some cool and different looks. I mean parking decks and graffiti walls… how much more cooler could you get in the Summer time…(okay cheesey joke but I laughed). Check out some great shots below ::

Katherine 2013 Senior :: { senior photographer }

…. and yet another Tiger Town Senior back to back days…. I have indirectly known this family for many years as my parents buy all of their furniture from them and I bought my living room suite from them as well almost 9 years ago, if ya need a great place to buy furniture try Sanders Furniture in downtown Commerce……. Now as Snoop Dogg would say, “back to lecture at hand” (G-Thang 1992)…. Meet Katherine! This was a fun shoot in that I got to shoot at a location that has yet to be “published” on my blog until now. Katherine doesn’t realize it, but she can without a doubt work the camera. We got several good quality locations within just a few miles of each other which added to the dynamics of the shoot. I don’t have much else to say, so I am going to let the images do my talking… Great Job Katherine!! checkem out… ::

Tiger Town Senior :: { senior photographer }

Meet Josh… a 2013 Senior at Commerce High School…. I must say that I’m showing my age a little bit when I am starting to shoot the senior kids of some of the parents that I went to school with… =). Josh’s mom and I went to the same high school, she was a few years ahead of me but nonetheless a fellow alumni. I was contacted a few months ago to shoot this session and we started planning a little early… we had big plans of doing a wrestling themed shoot in the new gym… but as we didn’t know nor the coach that got us in…. the lights don’t work on the weekends inside the new gym….??? , but we improvised and rocked out a few cool gym shots anyway… It was great to see Jennifer again, meet Josh and if uncle Jeff is reading this (my class mate in school)… hows it going? Check out some of the shots we got below ::

Mr. McKay #12 :: { high school senior photographer }

And….. the senior crunch is on to get in all their pictures before the football programs come out… I am just slammed to the gills in August with seniors, but I don’t mind… i actually love it since seniors are becoming a favorite of mine quickly. This was a senior package that I had entered into a silent auction and was bid on and won in the Jefferson Booster Clubs Lucky Night Out. You guys should come it’s a blast…  I think next year along with a senior package I am also entering photography lessons as well… =) Anyway McKay is a flanker (#12) for the Dragons this year and he promises to have a good season…. we got a good mix of of shots on this evening and as always they were fun to do. Stay tuned and you’ll see McKay later on this year as his mom is going to purchase my Spotlight Package in that I go to the game or the event and shoot nothing but the spotlight player the whole time… great way to get some cool action shots and some intense emotional candids of them out of the action as well…. anyway check out these shots ::

Tyler – Madison County Senior :: { north ga senior photographer }

This was, I have to admit, a pretty cool session. Angela (the mom) contacted me some while back about doing Tyler’s senior pictures and right off the bat she wanted unique and different…Yes Please! My normal senior session is a mixed bag of formals, creative and unique shots that all flow in one session…. Well this session with Tyler was cool to me b/c it was all creative and unique shooting… mom said that his pictures by the school turned out pretty good (the formals) so she pretty much waved the green flag for an all awesome session. We hit a junkyard, a weight room and of course the football field… check these out ::

DJ & Bubba :: { north ga wedding photographer }

DJ and Bubba says I Do! This was a pretty cool wedding in that most of all the pictures were taken on DJ’s parents property. What a very pretty place they have… everything from a nice big house, to wooden bridges, to nice greenery and even a cool little vineyard. Very nice and inviting family as well… we got luck in that the temperature may have hit 90… if it did we really didn’t feel it much as I always shoot in the shade =). We also dodged the rain, which I knew we would because I have a “65 wedding no rain consecutive streak” going on currently… yeap so all you brides thinking about booking me… HA just more added value on top of some great shots =)…lol. Anyway here are a few shots from the day… enjoy ::

Aqua & Terra :: { georgia senior photographer }

Sitting here on my lunch break and thought I would do a quick blog post of a start to a great senior shoot….. This was a pretty awesome shoot on a few different levels… first and for most its the brother of my very first senior that I shot a few years ago… I am proud to say I have came a long ways since then… and thanks to Patti (mom) for letting me shoot your youngest and last to come thru =). Secondly… traditionally guys do senior shoots b/c mom wants them too, BUT my goal is to make the shoot for guys just as fun and cool as it is for the girls…. so mainly to do that I like to incorporate what they do, their likes, their hobbies and really submerge (no pun intended) my creativity into that. Meet Dawson… a competition swimmer! This shoot was a challenge on so many levels and if you know me I LOVE TO BE CHALLENGED… day 1 we tried the shoot and a monsoon of rain and killer lightning came thru… yeah not the challenge i was up for… day 2 (next day) dark dreary skies, very wide pool, local water aerobics club on one side, expensive photography gear inches from water, asst with a hurt back (but on the up and up i hear) and about an hours to pull of what i had in my head (scarey i know ;) …. but I embraced the challenge and I think it paid off big time… this is part 1 of a 2 part session and these images are deff some of my best specialty session shots… stay tuned for part II :: (a lot of photographers have already contacted me about how i pulled this off… cheat sheet post coming in my Fortographers section of my blog… okay back to the action)

Heat Wave and Wind Blast :: { georgia senior photographer }

Sooooo… going into Kerri’s senior session this past weekend I was worried about the triple digit temperatures, but to my surprise it was some freakish “monsoon easterly crazy fast wind” that about post-pone this session… Luckily when we got to downtown Commerce the winds had died down a bit and by the end of the session it was perfect! We also had planned to shoot at the local high school (won’t say which one ;) to shoot under a few of the lights at the football field for some very cool cheer leading pictures BUT we didn’t have an extra $100 in our budget to pay for that… booo! Anyway as fate would have it, since we weren’t there shooting at dusk we found a field and got some amazing pictures there instead… take that football! HA!…lol. j/k. Xheck out a few of these great shots from this past Sunday ::

Mountain View Senior :: { ga senior photographer }

Meet Caitlin… 2013 senior, country girl, cross-country medalist and super model…. well I was kinda kidding about the super model part, but she very well could be… her and my camera got along very well! Caitlin is from Mountain View High School out in Gwinnett (thats right lil ol me is crackin into that market =)… MVHS is a fairly new school and she said that she will be in the first graduating class from there… pretty cool. This shoot was pretty much flawless minus the 100 degree temps and a few ticks here and there in the tall grass… but without any more delay… check out these shots ::

Heather & Michael at the Carl House :: {atlanta wedding photographer}

Heather and Michael was wed last Saturday at the Carl House and like every wedding that I have shot there… it was amazing. I shot Heather and Michael’s engagement photos awhile back at Hurricane Shoals and I could tell then that we were going to capture some great shots on the day of their wedding! Such a laid back couple with a great family. I just finished up editing their whole wedding… they are probably on their way back from the honeymoon and I am on my way tomorrow to a well deserved vacation… Here are a few shots from the day… enjoy ::

Wedding Bells in Monroe GA :: { north ga wedding photographer }

Another great wedding… I shot this one with NRP. Not a lot to say… just let the images do the talking. Quick post on this one… enjoy! ::

Challenge… :: {athens ga photographer}

I started a group on Facebook called “JPG Joing Photographers in Georgia” and well a series of fitness shoots were and had been going on and around the group for sometime now. Most of them were studio styled sessions… staged props… no doubt the shots looked great and were beneficial to those involved… I however have never done the fitness/workout type of shots or session before, but if you know me I am always up for a challenge. I wanted to take a slightly different approach… okay a lot different approach… ALSO if you know me I am usually against the grain anyway…! My inspiration for what I wanted to do was more along the lines of a Nike Ad or something like a Gatorade Ad, you know the ones, hard directional lighting, very dark and contrasty and slightly desaturated… YEAH sounds amazing eh? Well I design ads for a national advertising company as my 9-5 job and we have a client (Bodyplex in Athens) that I deal with on a fairly regular basis… The owner is great and very down to earth so I just asked him one day what I was thinking in terms of my shoot and wanted someone fit, strong, ripped… he knew what I was getting at and introduced me to his manager… well she was a joy to shoot and probably soar afterwards as she lifted weights probably more for the shots than she might have done in her normal workouts… so a BIG Thanks to Chris, Candice and Bodyplex of Athens for letting me shoot. Check out some of my shots ::

The Voice… :: {north ga senior photographer}

Second senior of the season… it’s fixing to to get crazy, I like crazy though when it come to senior photography! (if you haven’t booked, do so now while slots are still available)… anyway meet Ashley, a Jefferson Senior! We got some great shots despite a few plans that fell through involving a few of our locations, but we took what was offered and ROCKED it! Would like to give a special thanks for quick thinking on Mr. Habeck’s part for offering up the inside of his church, to Coach DuBose for letting us borrow half of his court for a few minutes during his summer practice and to little brother for being an excellent flash holder! =)…. check out some the great shots that we got ::

Roswell Mill Wedding :: { atlanta wedding photographer }

Wedding #8 of the season for me and I got to shoot with AGW Photography. The last time that I shot at Roswell Mill was a few years ago and Allyson assited me so I had the opportunity to side shoot with her at her wedding there. This place is a unique venue in that there are a lot of different looks for good photography… everything from old buildings to rivers and waterfalls. A lot of things have changed in Roswell since I last shot there… the Roswellians think very highly of their city property… hence the $100 permit to shoot photography there that you have to have… Luckily Julie had hers… I meant Allyson had hers =). We didn’t get sent to jail thank goodness. The reception was a first for me in that it was pretty crazy (i’ll keep the incriminatory pictures hidden) but I think we counted 7 spilled drinks and 3 broken glasses on the dance floor… you know you have a good reception when that happens…  Like always I enjoy side shooting and usually try and get some good stuff… check out some of the shots below ::

Immediately after this next shot below…. i caught some of his Crown and Coke on me and my lens… luckily no harm…whew!
